Teacher: Rev. Vivian Gruenenfelder
Topic: The Precepts
Westerners tend to dislike the Precepts, or at best, to consider them not too important. But a case could be made that they are more important and more fundamental than meditation. We will discuss our practice of the Precepts in terms of what it means to literally keep them, to keep them through the practice of compassion, and to keep them from the point of view of "already enlightenment."
Rev. Vivian looks forward to all of you offering your own experience and observations with this most basic of practices.
List of Precepts:
Preserve and protect life
Not taking that which is not given
Do no harm with sexual energy
Be truthful and careful with speech
Restraint with the use of intoxicants
