These are the  earliest grouping of Buddhist teachings, and are the foundation of Theravada Buddhism. The Tripitika is translated as three baskets which are: 1. the Suttas, 2. the Abhidharma, and 3. the Vinaya (rules that Buddhist monks commit to following)
